b'THE ELLESMERIAN 86Ellesmere in the NewsJebb ScholarshipAbi-Lou Foster, from Market Drayton, has been awarded the Jebb Scholarship by Ellesmere College, in honour of the founder of the Save the Children charity, Eglantyne Jebb. Abi-Lou won the scholarship for her community service through volunteering and fundraising activities, including volunteering at Project Farm, a farm that supports young adults with learning disabilities, volunteering at a project for patients with dementia and their careers, and volunteering at a Dogs Trust rescue kennel. She has also raised funds for various organizations, including the Alzheimers Society, NSPCC, The Little Princess Trust, the National Autistic Society, and Save the Children. Abi-Lou was selected for the scholarship based on her impressive list of charitable work and herSixth Form Careers Conferencecommitment to helping others. The scholarship will support her through her two years of A Levels at Ellesmere College. Our annual Careers Conference for Senior School students was once again packed with over 50 interesting and engaging businesses - many Old Ellesmerians themselves! - to help support and guide our Senior School students on the next phase of their academic and personal journeys once they leave Ellesmere College after their A Levels, International Baccalaureate, or BTEC courses. She has also planned future charitable ventures, such as undertaking a lifeguarding course and performing a sponsored skydive.Richard Jebb, Eglantynes great, great nephew, congratulated Abi-Lou on her win and emphasized that her ongoing selfless support to the community reflects the principles on which the Save the Children charity was built. The scholarship is in honour of Eglantyne Jebb, who founded Save the Children with her sister, Dorothy Buxton, after World War I. Today, the charity supports children in more than 100 countries. Josh Millington was the first recipient of the Jebb Scholarship in 2020 and has since completed his A Levels and moved on to university.'
