b'THE ELLESMERIAN 153U9 tennis U15 tennisThe U9 team were supposed to have two fixtures against Adcote andThe U15 team faced many challenging opponents throughout the Moreton Hall, but due to staff illness we had to cancel the game againstseason. The first match was against Wrekin College. The match was a Moreton Hall.close affair but ended up in our favour; the Ellesmerian girls and boys produced some excellent shots and consistency and won 6:3.The first and the last game was against Adcote School. The girls and boys showed enthusiasm, fighting spirit, and determination in both attackThe second match was against Shrewsbury School at home, and it was and defence; it was quite impressive and pleasant to watch. Everyonea difficult fixture but our boys and girls were very tough and never had a turn to play and no one wanted to lose. It was level for most ofdoubted themselves. There was some excellent tennis all round, which the match but in the last set Adcote pulled ahead with two points more,allowed the players to secure victory. They won 6 sets out of 8.making it 23:21 to them. Next stop was a U15 North Shropshire tournament. Only three schools took part: Oswestry School brought a boys and girls team, U11, U12, U13 teams did not play any tennis fixtures. One was cancelledwhile Moreton and Adcote were represented by girls teams. The boys by Adcote School, and we had to cancel one against Moreton Hall. played best of 3 sets and won, while the girls played one set each against Moreton, Adcote, and Oswestry. The Ellesmere girls played some U14 tennis unbelievable tennis and came 2nd in the tournament. U14 girls only played two fixturesone against Moreton Hall and one against Adcote Schoolbut the girls showed some excellent skills inEGdefensive and offensive tennis. The first match was against Adcote, where the Ellesmerian girls were much the stronger team and started very well. They won every set in the first round, and the second round was quite as easy affair for Ellesmere as well. Ultimately, we won 32 games out of 37.The next match was against Moreton Hall away, and it was always going to be a tough one as Moreton Hall are quite strong in tennisbut Ellesmere had a pretty good squad! The team played some amazing tennis, and because of all the effort being put in they ended up level on score with 6 sets each, but took two extra games to give us a winning draw.'
