b'THE ELLESMERIAN 104Girls Hockey1st XISummary of results The team received a bye in the first round of the Tier 2 National Old Ellesmerian -Lost 0-2 Cup. In the second round of the Cup we faced a very strong Kings National Cup Tier 2 Round 1 -Bye Macclesfield. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the team National Cup Round 2 The Kings School, suffered a 0-5 defeat. Although the result was not in our favour, the Macclesfield (Home) -Lost 0-5 players showcased resilience and determination. This then meant National Cup Tier 3 Round 2 -Bye that the team entered the second round of the Tier 3 National Cup National Cup Tier 3 Round 3 Competition.Loughborough High School (Away) -Lost 2-4 The team fought valiantly against a skilled Loughborough High School County Tournamentbut ultimately fell short, losing 2-4. Despite the loss, the players gave Moreton Hall -Drew 0-0 everything on the field and delivered a magnificent performance, Wrekin College -Drew 0-0 especially during the first half when they managed to tie the game at Shrewsbury School A -Won 1-0 2-2.Shrewsbury High School -Won 2-0Shrewsbury School B -Won 2-0 The County Tournament proved to be a turning point for the team, Oswestry School -Won 5-0 as they emerged as the champions, gaining significant victories against County Champions Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury High School, and Oswestry School.Shrewsbury School (Away) -Won 3-1 On an incredibly cold and wet November afternoon we faced Abbotsholme School (Home) -Drew 2-2 Shrewsbury School. After a frustrating start of not being able to Rydal Penrhos School (Home) -Won 6-1 convert attacking plays into goals, the team rallied to finish with a Moreton Hall (Away) -Won 3-0 convincing 3-1 victory. Particular mention to the Goal Keepers and defensive unit, for successfully distributing the ball safely out of our half and to our attacking players.The 1st XIs campaign began with a pre-season match against a strong Old Ellesmerian Select Team. Despite a loss, the team exhibited promising potential which was to be developed over the coming months.'
