A play the group matches. comfortable win set up an Oldfield team final!An easy win to start with for the A side against Derby Grammar School,In the final Ellesmere posted their lowest score of just 43. They needed and in the next game Ellesmere managed to lose the only game of theto be at their best to secure the win. Good tight bowling backed up with day as they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!good fielding caused Oldfield to panic as they lost wickets throughout their innings. Needing 4 runs off the last ball Rory Dunlop held his nerve Lessons were learnt as a must win game against a very strong Oldto see Ellesmere home.Hall School team followed. They set a formidable total of 63 from the allotted 5 overs. But a strong first over power play kept Ellesmere in theA fantastic effort by everyone who played in very hot conditions; the hunt as it went down to the last over needing9 runs to win. A notableamount of travelling between each game and with a late finish was a pull shot from Flo Sandiford got Ellesmere level with two balls remainingcredit to the squad. Oliver Walker captained the team with much credit.and a despairing dive from Ethan Harrison got the team home with one ball to spare. Victory in this game ensured three teams finished on twoGOwins each. Ellesmere finished third as a result of losing more wickets than the two other schools, which placed them in the plate group. Although slightly disappointed to not be in the main competition (as it was suggested Ellesmere looked to be the best team in the group), in true Ellesmere spirit the squad set off to meet their new challenge of winning the plate competition.'
