Thanks to the generosity of the Ellesmere College Parents Society
and the Enhance Ellesmere project, the all-weather pitches at the College now
have a fully electronic scoreboard.
Each year the Parents' Society make a donation to the College
towards a specific project of their choice, this past year's ECPS committee chose
to contribute to a lasting legacy to the College and donated over £1,500 towards
the scoreboard – seen here with Head of the High Performance Hockey Programme,
Simon 'Tic Tac' Taylor, and Captain of Girls' Hockey, Georgina Dawson. It was
funded through a variety of events organised by the ECPS, whose aim is to
promote social interaction between parents, encouraging them to take an active
part in the College community. Their generous donation was matched by the College's
Enhance Ellesmere programme.
Janet Kelly, Chairperson of the ECPS commented, "We are delighted
to be able to donate a lasting legacy to the College that we know will be
enjoyed for generations to come on the hockey pitches."
The scoreboard is a permanent fixture at the pitch and will be
used for all the varied sports and competitions played there, including girls'
and boys' hockey and 5 a-side football.
