Our School exists because of the philanthropic giving and generosity of others. Down through the decades, it has been this generous spirit that has enabled many children to be educated at Ellesmere College and for the buildings and facilities to be developed and enhanced. This spirit is still visible today through our Old Ellesmerians, current and retired staff and current and past parents.
Many past students and their families have benefitted from some form of financial support, which enabled them to access the quality education that Ellesmere College provides. Our goal is to continue this great tradition of providing bursarial support so that broad access to the College can continue for generations to come.
You can play your part in securing the future of the School and maintain this broad access by supporting bursaries and scholarships. Bursaries are based on financial need, and are means tested, whereas scholarships are based on talent and ability.
Individual Named Bursary
Would you be willing, as an individual, to sponsor a student through the 5 years of their Middle School and Sixth Form education with a 50% bursary? With the addition of Gift Aid, which enables the School to reclaim the tax you have already paid on your gift, this is a very cost effective way of securing the educational future of a local child or even an international student. This bursary can be named by the donor e.g. The Wilson Bursary and can also be made in memoriam.
Scholarships
You may have a passion for a particular aspect of school life, such as sport, art, music or maths. A scholarship, aimed at attracting top local talent to the school, can be for up to 50% of the School fees.
The Ian Beer Rugby Scholarship
The Silver Cross Academic Scholarship
The table below shows just how quickly regular monthly donations, with Gift Aid, can make a significant contribution to a bursary place and fund an able student into the College. Figures are based on day fees for September 2013/14
All of these contributions can benefit from Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer.
