Music

Music is in Our Soul

A typical Ellesmere music season sees at least three major concerts, a choral or instrumental tour, and Recitals given by leading international musicians, often on the unique Schulze Organ.

In addition there are Band Nights and numerous informal Concerts. All pupils are exposed to music - be it in Wednesday Assemblies when pupils perform as soloists or in small ensembles in front of the whole School, or in the very competitive House Singing competition. As a church school, Ellesmere delivers the added benefit of the Chapel Choir singing at Chapel Services.

The College very much values the imagination and character that make each person an individual, and its Arts programme has been structured to encourage self-expression and confidence. Music plays a pivotal role in this philosophy.

We understand that everyone discovers and enjoys music in many different forms, and its approach and broad musical foundation allows all pupils to explore their potential and express themselves through music. Our individual tutoring and performance programmes also mean that we can extend the most able pupils as far as their talent can take them - which in many cases have been on to higher level qualifications, music study and careers.

This same philosophy exists in Lower School, where the boys and girls have access not only to their own full time music staff who specialise with the younger years, but also to the facilities and staff of the Senior School.
