Art and Design Technology

Work in visual arts allows pupils to pursue and explore a wide range of interests and activities.

The facilities in the Arts Department enable pupils to develop skills in fine art, fashion and textiles, digital photography and multimedia forms. Throughout their time at Ellesmere pupils have the opportunity to work with visiting artists and to take part in various workshops, both in and out of College.

Pupils are also given the opportunity to visit a wide range of galleries and museums, including recent trips to London to take in the British Museum and Tate Modern.

Various exhibitions of pupil artwork are held throughout the year and pupil artwork is a major feature on walls throughout the College. Each year the College hosts a National Exhibition of Art and Sculpture which attracts over 600 visitors with more than 60 artists and 200 pieces of work.

Art is available for study as a curricular subject throughout the school age-range and as an examinable subject at GCSE, A level and International Baccalaureate Diploma level.
