Academy Structure

The academy is split into four participation sections, with the goal of instilling a disciplined, professional and high quality approach to practice, training and competition.

• Elite

Recreational

  • The emphasis is on developing new skills whilst having fun.• Private coaching is available individually or in pairs to all students in the College. Currently over 100 students are receiving lessons each week.
  • Junior starter groups are offered up to Year 8 (Including Mini Red, Orange and Green).
  • Seniors can opt to do tennis during the Thursday activity tennis sessions in the Summer Term.
Development

  • Selected players showing the potential to become team players, usually members of Lower School.
  • In addition to recreational opportunities these players are offered a place in a regular weekly training squad.
  • It is advised that these players receive individual tuition.

Performance

  • Selected players who show the potential to become team players.
  • These players are offered a place in regular weekly training squads.
  • It is expected that these players will have opted for individual tuition.

Elite

  • A small group of selected highly-rated players competing at or above high county standard.
  • A full programme is delivered using indoor and clay courts at Shrewsbury with further squad sessions.
  • Practice and training programmes are individually tailored to fit in to academic timetables.
  • Fitness programme and guidance on nutrition with professional specialists.
  • Regular team matches for the College in National Competitions.
  • It is expected that Elite players compete through the holidays
