Year 9 CCF Team Prepare for Launch of Fund Raising Cookbook In Aid of Help for Heroes

A group of Year 9 pupils will be launching a cookbook next week with all proceeds going to Help For Heroes.

The group of CCF Cadets who are all working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, have been supported by Rae Nicolson, a teacher at the School and a stalwart supporter of the Schools fundraising initiatives. This week the pupils are putting the finishing touches to the planning of the launch which will be held next Thursday 24th June in the Schools Arts Centre, starting at 7pm.

The CCF pupils have been collating recipes for the cookbook since the beginning of the year, asking fellow pupils, parents, staff and former pupils to submit their favourite dishes. One of the pupils, Molly Venner persuaded her grandmother, Pat Venner, a BBC Wales community presenter, to give a cooking demonstration of various recipes in the cookbook at the launch so the audience will be invited to sample these and other recipes cooked by the cookbook team.

Besides pupils, staff and parents attending the event, guests will include the Help For Heroes regional coordinator, Ian Sawers.  The launch is being supported by two local suppliers to the School, Roslin Catering who will be serving some of the recipes from the cookbook and Tipples who are providing the drink for the evening.

Tickets for the event are 3.00 and will include a glass of wine or soft drink. All profits from the event and cookbook sales will be in support of Help for Heroes.

Rae Nicolson explained, A number of our CCF pupils involved with the Community Service of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award have parents and other family members in the forces, with some currently serving in Afghanistan, so they thought Help for Heroes was a fitting charity to support.
