Last Thursday afternoon, Lower School Choir was once again singing enthusiastically at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. For the second year the event was followed by a Christmas Market in aid of Hope House for pupils, parents and staff.
Following the recent planting of a 12ft. Christmas Tree that had been donated to the School by the Ellesmere College Parents Society, the two youngest Year 3 pupils, Amelie Davies and Rosie Holland were invited to switch the lights on after the Choirs singing of Christmas Carols.
The Christmas Market then ensued with many Christmas items for sale, including the recently released Sixth Form Calendar and Anniversary Christmas cards. The catering team, supported by members of the Parents Society, served hot chocolate to pupils and mulled wine to the adults, with mince pies and stollen available to all. The Sixth Form Housemaster, James Baggaley, was in charge of the Bratwurst stand which was well received by pupils and adults alike.
The event was organised by Senior Librarian, Kate Sampson, and a member of the modern languages team, Christina Westwood, supported by a team of enthusiastic sixth form students. Kate Sampson commented, Now firmly in the School Calendar for the Michealmas Term, this years Christmas Market raised 400 for Hope House.
