Titans Swimmers Smash County Records

Titans swimmers stormed to victory at the first weekend of this years Shropshire County Swimming Championships held on 27th & 28th February at the Market Drayton Swimming Centre. By the end of two days of hard fought competition they returned in triumphant mood with a magnificent haul of 11 Gold, 16 Silver and 8 Bronze medals. Swimming against the very best swimmers from all over the County they recorded 67 personal best times, broke 18 club records and smashed 4 all time County records.

The Star of this first weekend of competition was 12 year old James Wilson who started his County campaign with an amazing haul of 6 Golds and 4 County records from the first 6 events.
He won gold medals in the 400m Individual Medley (IM) (5:22.01); the 800m Freestyle (9:28.51); the 100m Butterfly (1:12.80); the 100m Freestyle (1:00.55); the 200m Butterfly (2:41.06) and the 200m Breaststroke (3:09.66).

Making it a virtual clean sweep for the Titans in the boys 12/u age category Alfie Pardoe won the silver medals in the 800m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke and 400m IM events, and Jamie Thomas secured the silver in the 200m Butterfly.

Not to be out swum by the boys Hannah Greene, age 13, won 4 Golds and 2 silver medals, whilst Naomi Craig age 12 won 3 silvers and 2 bronze medals.

Further medals were won for the Titans by the following swimmers:  Jessica Thomas age 10; Annie Jones age 14; Leon Parkes age 13; David Main age 17; Daniel Howell age 16; Luc Jarzynski age 11; and Michael Doyle age 10.

Other Titan swimmers in action over the weekend included Natalie Greene (aged 11), Ottilie Fairhurst (aged 12), Ryen Spencer-Wolfe (age 13), Jimmy Kershaw (age 13),  Ellie Hutchings (age 9), Eleanor Shields (age 11), Amy Latham (age 12), Jessie Bulanda (age 9), Matt Bulanda (age 15), Sam Holland (age 13) and Lauren Bond (aged 11).

Titan head coach Jon Pardoe commented I am absolutely delighted for all of our swimmers. The individual performances and overall team spirit were excellent. We will continue to strive for excellence.

The final weekend of this years County Championships will take place on the 13th and 14th March.
