At the British Gas ASA National County Team Championships, held at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield, on Sunday 17th October, Titan swimmers Alfie Pardoe (age 12), Lllawen Rossell-Smith (age 13), Poppy Evans(age 16), Naomi Craig (age 13) and Elliot Hughes (age 13) were called into action to represent Shropshire making up more than 20% of those swimmers selected to compete for the County team..
With teams from 39 Counties taking part in these annual Championships the Titan swimmers swam their way to four personal best times\and three new club records.
Poppy Evans 16/17 Girls 100m Breaststroke 1:15.89 (PB & NCR)
Alfie Pardoe 12/13 Boys 100m Breaststroke 1:26.09 (PB)
Llawen Rossell-Smith 12/13 Girls 100m Breaststroke 1:18.72 (NCR)
Elliot Hughes 12/`13 Boys 100m Freestyle 1:02.55 (PB)
12/13 Boys 100m Butterfly 1:10.93 (PB & NCR)
The Championships which were hosted by Olympian and Commonwealth Games medallists Ross Davenport and Sarah Price were eventually won by Lancashire for the second year running.
Titans Head Coach Jon Pardoe said Im delighted for these swimmers. Its just reward for all the hard work and effort they put into their training week in week out.
On the 29th January 2011 the Titans will be holding an Open Day to which the best young local and national swimmers will be invited. Swimmers can apply for an invitation by registering online at www.ellesmerecollegetitans.co.uk.
