Statement from the School

It is with great sorrow that the College learned of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.  The former Prime Minister's description of her as 'Elizabeth the Great' does not seem inappropriate.

A life admirably devoted to her duty and to service to others has come to an end, and as well as mourning her loss we should be grateful for a life that had such a positive influence in the world: as a comfort in times of trouble – particularly recently in the dark days of Covid – and as a symbol of stability, continuity and security.

The country has lost a Sovereign whose sense of duty was immense.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time.

Long live the King.
