It is with great sorrow that the College
learned of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. The former Prime
Minister's description of her as 'Elizabeth the Great' does not seem
inappropriate.
A life admirably devoted to her duty and
to service to others has come to an end, and as well as mourning her loss we
should be grateful for a life that had such a positive influence in the world:
as a comfort in times of trouble – particularly recently in the dark days of
Covid – and as a symbol of stability, continuity and security.
The country has lost a Sovereign whose
sense of duty was immense.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her
family at this sad time.
Long live the King.
