Images and reports from Japan that have filled television news programmes and been circulating on the internet recently, have galvanised a group of particularly musically talented Sixth Form students to organise a concert in aid of the Japanese Red Cross Disaster Appeal.
Upper Sixth Form IB and Japanese student, Ami Takahashi, a talented piano player, is leading the group of international students to organise the concert on the evening of Wednesday 30th March in the Schools Arts Centre, starting at 7pm. Many of the recent Oswestry Music Festival winners will be performing.
Ami Takahashi explained, Although my family live many miles away from the area of Japan that has been torn apart recently, I am very aware of the misery being suffered by so many of my countrymen currently. I hope the concert will, in a small way, help to give some relief to a few.
There will be a varied programme with both classical and modern pieces being performed. During the interval homemade sushi will be on sale. There will be a retiring collection for the Japanese Red Cross Disaster Appeal and since it is anticipated that the concert will prove popular, tickets can be reserved in advance by calling the Arts Centre Box Office on 01691 626545 or email helen.coney@ellesmere.com
