The Ellesmere College shooting team came away from the Arthur Clarke Schools and CCF Cadets Long Range Rifle competition with a hoard of trophies and medals.
The boys and girls team competed against 30 other Schools and CCF contingents from across the country to finish in the top three at the National Shooting Centre in Bisley, Surrey.
The boys team won the challenge shield, with an impressive performance by Sixth Form pupil; Ben Williamson and the girl's team finished in the top 3 overall, with a number of personal best performances. The event is for teams of four firing a maximum of 3 sighting shots and 10 shots to count at 800 yards and 2 sighting shots and 10 shots to count at 900 yards.
Shooting coach Tom Rylands said "This was a great result for both our teams, this event was a warm up for the National Schools Ashburton Shield. All of the students have continued to improve their standards at competitions with several members achieving representational honours at British Schools and Junior National level during the past year.
