Nestled amongst the green fields in North Shropshire, there is a day and boarding school with an ethos at its heart that values the contribution of every pupil and prepares them for adulthood.

The School delivers a robust pastoral system that includes dedicated weekly tutor periods and regular contact with parents at every level. Besides there being much emphasis on academic achievement, an integral part of each year�s curriculum is a focus on the delivery of a varied and meaningful extra-curricular programme, delivered by dedicated staff members.

In Year 7 and Year 8 all pupils participate in �Survive and Thrive�, a programme that aims to arm children for challenges that may lay ahead and to develop confidence. The varied activities include Cookery Cycling, Dance and First Aid. The opportunity then broadens as pupils enter Senior School in Year 9 and have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Combined Cadet Force or Arena Arts Programme.  

Every 2 years there is a Senior School Touring Play that sees the cast travelling to the USA to perform in a variety of locations. Debating is also a key opportunity area with House Debating Competitions leading to the opportunity to travel to a Model United Nation Forum in The Hague, Holland where final debates are held in the Peace Palace.

Beyond the necessary focus on academic achievement in the Sixth Form, life is very varied with opportunities for leadership roles, career-orientated presentations by Old Ellesmerians, through to wine tasting tuition and student cookery lessons.
