Rugby Success

Ellesmere has much to shout about currently on the rugby field. As well as their 1st, 2nd and Under 13 teams having an unbeaten season to-date, a group of their most talented players have been chosen to play in teams at county level and beyond.

Ellesmere Colleges Rugby Academy is celebrating the fact that out of the forty games played so far by all the schools teams, a total of thirty four games have been won and one drawn. This is in addition to a group of fourteen of their keenest rugby players have been selected to play at county level. Four players have been selected to play for the North Midlands Under-18 and one at Under-16. Another three boys have been selected to represent North Wales and the Head boy, Ashley James, has been selected to play for Llanellis Under-18 side.

The Academy Director, Paul Goodwin commented, We have experienced a fantastic start to the season and at point in the calendar, both the Ellesmere College 1st and 2nd teams as well as the younger Under 13 team are all unbeaten to-date with a number of our experienced players going onto achieve honours beyond the school. Since the Rugby Academy is about nurturing and developing individual talent, we are always delighted to hear from parents who are interested to learn about what the School has to offer both academically and the sports side.
