Samson

The Ellesmere College Choral Society are currently rehearsing under the guidance of Roger Paul, the new Director of Music in preparation for the first large-scale concert under his baton on Saturday 18th March 2006.

The Choral Society is made up of members of the Schools music scholars, staff and also includes members of the local community who gather in the Ellesmere College Art Centre each Monday evening to sing together.

Alex Robinson, a Sixth Form Music Scholar is taking the title role of Samson in what will be his first major solo singing role. The orchestra will be primarily drawn from the Oswestry Sinfonia.

Roger Paul commented I am very much looking forward to conducting Samson again. It is a work that is rarely performed and anyone who enjoys The Messiah will also enjoy Samson. All the members of the Choral Society have worked tremendously hard and I am confident that, together with the Oswestry Sinfonia, we will produce a fine performance on 18th March.

The performance of Samson takes place in the Ellesmere College Chapel on Saturday 18th March at 7.30ppm. Tickets can be reserved via the Ellesmere College Reception, telephone number 01691 622321, or via email, reception@ellesmere.com and cost 5 each, and concessions are 3.
