Following recent County trials, a group of 13 pupils have been selected to play cricket at District and County levels.
Year 11 pupil, Dewi Jones, alongside Lower Sixth Form students, Ben Spaven and Matthew Macintosh have been selected to play in the Under 17 team, with Dewi also playing for the North Wales squad. Fellow Middle School pupil, Will Doerr and Mathew Kinney have been selected to play for Shropshires Under 15 team.
Lower School representation at North Shropshire District level includes Year 8 Sebastian McCarthy and Harry Williamson, whilst Year 7 pupil George Newton, has been selected for the Under 12 Cheshire County team.
Year 6 boys, Ben Beaver and Luke Parker have been selected to take part in the Under 11 North Shropshire District Winter Programme. Whilst the boys are preparing for the County trials in May, 3 year 6 girls have been selected to play for the Under 11 Shropshire Girls Team. They are Mia Foster and twins Caro and Lottie Hulme.
Alongside visiting children at the Schools recent Academy Day, all the District and County players had the opportunity to meet former Shropshire Junior Cricketer and current Derbyshire County and England Under 19 player, Dan Redfern. The group learnt about his experiences as a young talented cricketer and his journey to becoming a 1st class cricketer.
