Pupils Organise Plant Sale in aid of Tanzanian Charity

Over the last few weeks there has been much plant growing activity as the Schools gardening activity group have been preparing for a plant sale in aid of the Tanzanian charity, Monduli Green.

Following the installation of a grow-dome both the Schools gardening activity group and the wildlife garden have benefited. The greenhouse has meant that it has been possible to grow a variety of plants in great abundance and pupils have been involved in planting seeds, pricking out seedlings, planting on small plugs and making hanging baskets.   They are now preparing for the fundraising  plant sale at the dome by Lower School, on May 26th from 6pm - 7pm, for members of the public to attend. Proceeds from the plant sale will be sent to the charity, Monduli Green which aims to reforest an area near Monduli, Tanzania and build a water pipe to 2 villages near Monduli.

Cathy Allen, the teacher who initiated the creation of the Schools Wildlife Garden and is the local contact for the Monduli Green charity commented, We are growing both garden flowers and wildflowers, and also preparing hanging baskets. This is our third year of supporting the Monduli Green charity and it is my hope that the plant sale proceeds will contribute significantly to the building of the planned water pipe.
