A group of Year 10 pupils recently visited Church Stretton for a
Geography Field Trip, with the aim to look at the impact of tourism in
the town.
As part of their GCSE controlled assessment task the
group of 43 pupils were completing field work. Part of the day was spent
making a Pedestrian and Traffic count and time was spent land use
mapping and making a service study, when they looked at whether the
services available in the town are aimed at tourists or local residents.
Head
of Geography, Rhiann Waddams, commented, 'Pupils also completed a
unique method, many of which involved carrying out a questionnaire.
Whilst there was torrential rain back at school, the micro climate in
Church Stretton was kind to the pupils and they are now writing up the
results of their investigations completed during their busy field
visit'.
