Pupil Plays for Regional Hockey Squad

Following much practice to improve her hockey playing talent and under the watchful eye of the Schools hockey coaches, a Year 10 pupil has recently had the opportunity to play hockey at regional level.

14 year old Ellie Halstead, who started to play hockey when she joined the School in Year 5 and has played in Shropshire teams for the last 3 years, was spotted by talent scouts in the summer when she played against other Midland County teams in a tournament. She was selected to join the Birmingham squad and has played recently in matches against other Midland regional sides, Nottingham and Oxford.

Helen Davenport, Head of PE and Girls Games commented, I am delighted for Ellies considerable hockey playing talent having been recognised in this way and we wish her every success as further selections take place as she pursues her personal goal to play for England.
