As part of their ongoing support to projects around the School, the Ellesmere College Parents Society recently agreed to fund the purchase of a new Christmas tree to be planted on the Lawn opposite the School Library.
Last week, members of the Parents Society were invited to join representatives from Year 6 and the Sixth Form Prefect body, to plant the tree. The School Chaplain, Father David Slim, performed a short dedication, followed by the planting of a time capsule by the Lower School pupils. Items depicting life at the School had been collected by the pupils as part of the commemorative activities to mark the 10th Anniversary of Lower School.
Commenting on the occasion, Sue Dewhirst, Chairperson for the Parents Society said, The Parents Society are always looking for ways to enhance the enjoyment of the pupils life at the School and I was particularly delighted this year that we have been able to contribute to the wonderful atmosphere that pervades the whole School at Christmas time.
The Christmas tree will be lit on Thursday when the Lower School Choir will be performing at the traditional Christmas Tree Lighting event during the Schools second International Christmas Market in aid of Hope House. Parent Society representatives will again be present to help serve the refreshments during this event.
