Peter Messenger Concert

Peter Messenger Concert

The Peter Messenger Concert took place on Friday 22nd February in the Arts Centre.

Music scholars performed a variety of instrumental and vocal pieces which included two talented Year 8 string players, Luke Taylor and John Paul playing two modern pieces by Telemann and Squire. Sixth Formers, Rachel Harrison played Gildhaud's First Concertino and Alice Tow performed Fur Elise by Beethoven. Year 7 pupil, Katie Nicholson, sang 'I am 16 Goin on 17' by Rogers and Hammerstein.

Former pupil, Peter Messenger, who sadly died in his early twenties, was a very talented musician. His family set up the Memorial Fund to financially assist Ellesmere music scholars with their music studies.

The Concert followed the opening of the Ellesmere College Community Art Exhibition and guests enjoyed a wine-tasting organised by Momentum Wines of Oswestry. Six local artists are exhibiting their work which includes, watercolour paintings, metalwork, wood carvings and photography and the Exhibition will run until Thursday 20th March.
