The Parents Society has recently given a donation to the Peter Messenger Memorial Fund.

Each year the Ellesmere College Parents Society organises and hosts a Summer Ladies Lunch where guests are entertained by the Schools Music Scholars.  Following their participation in this years event, which involved the Scholars entertaining over 250 guests with a programme of singing and playing various musical instruments, a cheque was presented to the Schools Director of Music, Mr Roger Paul.

Mrs Sena Parry, Parents Society Chairperson, commented The Music Scholars always delight their audience and this summer they were again very well received at the Ladies Lunch.  Traditionally, the raffle proceeds from this event are divided between a local charity and an Ellesmere College project.  This year the ECPS committee chose Age Concern Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, as well as The Peter Messenger Memorial Fund, to be deserving recipients.

Roger Paul, Director of Music explained, Former pupil Peter Messenger, who very sadly died in his early twenties, was a very talented musician.  His family set up the Memorial Fund to financially assist current Ellesmere College Music Scholars with their music studies at Summer Schools.  Over the years, the Ellesmere College Parents Society have been very supportive of the Fund and we are delighted they have again donated 100 to help towards funding one of our Music Scholars, to experience the 2011 Music Tour to France.
