Christmas starts early at Ellesmere with the annual Christmas tree lighting event when the Lower School Choir entertain fellow pupils, parents and staff with their carol singing and the two youngest pupils in the School having the opportunity to switch on the tree lights. Following last years donation by the Parents Society of a tall Christmas tree, it looked resplendent again this year with its twinkling lights and bright star at the top.

This event was followed by the second annual, and very popular Key Stage 2 Christmas Party organised by a creative group from the Ellesmere College Parents Society.
 
Whilst last year the top floor of Lower School was transformed into a winter wonderland scene with polar bears and penguins, this year, it was the turn of the Schools Arts Centre to be transformed into a scene from Narnia.

Following a Christmas Party Tea, Year 3 to 6 pupils had to climb through a wardrobe, with fur coats hanging inside it, to enter the Narnia Winter Wonderland in the Arts Centre auditorium which included a street lamp, masses of artificial snow and its own Snow Queen.

Kirsty Hamilton, parent of Caitlin in Year 5 and a member of the Parents Society, who played the Snow Queen during the evening, commented, Numerous musical party games were played before the arrival of Father Christmas to give each pupil a present from his sack. A good time was had by all.
