Outstanding Achievement for Ellesmere Choir at the Chester Festival
Music students from Ellesmere College gave an outstanding performance at this year's Chester Festival of Performing Arts and achieved the highest marks awarded across the Youth Choir classes.
Thirteen pupils took part in the Under 18 Yates Challenge Cup and the Under 21 Bebington Cup, winning both competitions as well as the Peggy McKnight Silver Salver, for their overall choir performance score. The festival, held at The Kings School in Chester, aims to encourage young people to develop their talent and provide a forum for them to perform and receive feedback and adjudication from experienced adjudicators.
Director of Music Tony Coupe said "Since I started at Ellesmere I have focused on developing vocal music as an area of specialism for the College. This is a further example of things moving in the right direction. Music-making is such a great way to develop the confidence of our students".
