Since May, there has been a steady flow of building related contractors, under the project management of the Director of Operations, Mike McCarthy, working together to ensure that the 17 new en-suite bedrooms with individual study areas and the new large kitchen and conservatory dining area, were ready to welcome members of the Sixth Form at the start of the new academic year.
Mike McCarthy commented, From the start it was recognised that the timescale was going to be challenging for both the School and the main contractors. However, working together, the work was completed on time and has resulted in an excellent suite of bedrooms and the modern spacious kitchen and light dining area.
Whilst Lower Sixth Form students are in the larger twin-bedded rooms, some members of the Upper Sixth have returned to School and are now enjoying the individual first floor rooms. Brendan Wignall, Headmaster commented, As part of a wider plan to provide the best possible facilities for all our pupils to enjoy, this building project has been well-executed and the new facilities well received by our staff and returning students alike. The newly created rooms and facilities also put Ellesmere College in a good position to attract third parties from around the Country to reside at the School during holiday times and so further support the local economy.
