At the recent Shropshire County Closed Tennis Tournament, held at the Welti Tennis Centre, Shrewsbury, 2 Lower School pupils won the prestigious Under 12 titles.

The talented Year 7 tennis players, pupils, Chelsea Watson and Sam Chapman won the Girls and Boys Under 12 competitions respectively.

Chelsea had a series of exciting matches before triumphantly winning the Semi Final game and with the title nearly in her grasp, this spurred her on further when she met the Shropshire No. 1 Under 12 Seed in the Final and triumphantly won the title.

Sam Chapman also worked hard throughout the competition and retaining his focus to the end, his determination was evident as he played and this, coupled with his considerable talent, ultimately secured him the Under 12 Cup.

Nikki Hoy, Tennis Academy Director commented, �This was a terrific effort from both Chelsea and Sam and a wonderful double title for the Ellesmere College Academy to have achieved.�
