Lower School Pupils Raise Funds for Cancer Research

Following the production and sale of winter hanging baskets at the end of last term by a group of Lower School pupils, a representative from Cancer Research was invited to meet the team and be presented with a cheque.

As part of the Wednesday afternoon Survive and Thrive programme of activities for Year 7 and 8 pupils, a team of young gardeners enthusiastically embraced the challenge to produce hanging baskets before Christmas . These were then sold to staff and parents in aid of Cancer Research.

A cheque for 200  was eventually handed-over last week to Miss Lizzie Jones who had travelled from Manchester to meet the pupils involved and add her personal thanks for their support.

Rae Nicolson who supports much of the pupils gardening activities at the School with Cathy Allen commented, Besides the effort the pupils put into the creation of a colourful range of hanging baskets and pots, this fund-raising initiative was embraced by staff and parents alike. The team was delighted with the end result. We now move onto preparing for our Bring and Buy Plant Sale in the Summer term  and the producing summer baskets which will be sold in aid of Moduli Green, an African charity that Lower School also supports.
