Lower School Pupils Excel in Greek Mythology Examination

For the first time this year Lower School pupils had the opportunity to test their knowledge of Greek mythology with children from around the world in the Medusa Mythology Examination and 3 of them fared particularly well and were awarded their certificates in a recent assembly.

Medusa Mythology exam, billed as The International Competition For Mythology Enthusiasts, is a  competition run by a group of American high school teachers, in which school pupils from around the world are encouraged to participate.  The exam consists of a multiple choice exam that tests the pupils knowledge of Greek mythology.  The theme varies with each year, the theme this year was a number of the Olympian gods, including Aphrodite, Apollo, and Athena.

Dr. Ian Tompkins, Classics and Latin Teacher commented We entered for the first time this year and a number of our Lower School pupils participated. Our pupils will certainly be taking part again next year.

Three of the pupils received awards, James Bateman and James Hadden, both in Year 7 and Emily Roberts in Year 8.  James Bateman got a Crown of Laurels Certificate and Emily Roberts and James Hadden got Crown of Olive Leaves Certificates.
