Last week Lower School pupils aged between 11 and 13 presented on stage a series of Greek Folk Tales that have been told over hundreds of years.
The Year 7 and 8 pupils took to the stage in the Schools Arts Centre to perform six Greek stories. These included some well known ones like Icarus who flew too high, Pandoras Box and the golden touch of King Midas with some of their lesser but equally as good ones like The Golden Apple, which the Headmaster, Brendan Wignall kindly participated in unknown to him when taking his seat. Other tales that were performed were the Phoenix and Echo, Echo.
The plays were directed by Joanne Davies, Maths Teacher and Lower School Tutor, Sighile Abbots, English and Drama Teacher and Rae Nicolson, Support for Learning Teacher. The cast comprised of over 30 pupils. Over the two performance nights, the play drew an audience of pupils from through the School, as well as cast family members and members of Common Room.
Joanne Davies commented, I am really happy and proud of the work the pupils put into the performances and we have all had great fun rehearsing and performing the plays.
