International Baccalaureate Students visit Carding Mill Valley for Field Day Investigations

Sixth Form students studying for their International Baccalaureate Diploma at Ellesmere College recently spent a day at Carding Mill in Church Stretton investigating downstream river channel changes.

The Ellesmere students, who are all studying Geography as part of their IB Diploma, were collecting field data for their internal written assessment. The group of eight included an English student, a Nigerian, a Chinese and five Germans and together they are representative of the increasing internationalism in Ellesmere's Sixth Form. Helen Scarisbrick, Head of Geography and International Baccalaureate Coordinator commented, 'The IB Geography Syllabus is topical and covers issues facing the international world community, so is of great interest to young people the world over. Our first year of teaching this course has been very successful and the students have greatly benefited from having such a diversity of cultures and experience to draw on in the classroom.'
