IB Students Achieve an Average of Three A's in Diploma Results

Ellesmere students are celebrating the first results of the summer with the publication of the International Baccalaureate Diploma results. The average overall score for the International Baccalaureate candidates equated to three A grades at A Level.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma was introduced at Ellesmere College in September 2006, as a challenging alternative to A Levels. Students who follow the International Baccalaureate course study six subjects, a course in The Theory of Knowledge, and produce a university standard Extended Essay as part of their assessment. While demanding, the course is highly rewarding and held in high esteem by universities. The IB Diploma opens doors to the top universities in both the UK and around the world. Universities value the course as an excellent preparation for university so much that the pass level of 24 points is given the equivalent value of BCC grades at A Level. 57% of Ellesmere students achieved the higher level Diploma by gaining more than 30 points, which is equivalent of 3 A* grades at A Level.
