Getting Back Into the Swing of Things: ISGA Golf Academy Success

It has taken only a matter of days into the new Michaelmas Term before three members of the Ellesmere Golf Academy - under the watchful eye of new Golf Academy Coach Robert Ashbrook - were out performing all the other schools in the first inter school fixture - the Independent Schools Golf Association Cup at Sunningdale Heath in London on the 21st September.

It was a beautiful day on a very short course - 15 par 3s which was unusual. Claudia Hastings, Jonjo Ashbrook and Charlie Ashbrook played as a team and as individual scorers. It was a great day of golf with Charlie finishing up 3rd overall. A brilliant start and so pleasing to be able to enter the event.

Following that we had a comfortable win over Shrewsbury School in the first round of the ISGA Schools matchplay competition, which was played at Hill Valley Golf Club on Wednesday 30th September.

Most recently, the team - again consisting of Claudia Hastings, Charlie Ashbrook and Jonjo Ashbrook - were at The Berkshire Golf Club playing in the HMC Singles tournament. The field was very strong but Ellesmere College achieved their best result of the season so far, with a second place finish in the team event. It's great to see our Golf Academy players competing so strongly against these schools and congratulations to the players.
