European Day of Languages Celebrated with a Bake Off!

A European themed cake sale at Ellesmere College to celebrate European Day of Languages on 26th September raised in excess of £90, with all proceeds to benefit the Monduli Green project, which works with local communities and schools in Tanzania.

The cake sale was initiated by Sixth Form students Mariagiulia Angioni and Kim Ong (Captain of School), who worked tirelessly with a group of fellow Sixth Formers to produce a range of delicious baked goods, including Italian 'Tiramisu', German 'Marmorkuchen' and the ever popular muffin!

Melody Reynolds, the College's Gifted and Talented Coordinator who oversaw the event, said: 'The annual European Day of Languages is recognised in almost 50 countries across Europe and promotes multilingualism, multiculturalism and the benefits of language-learning. Here at Ellesmere College, we are proud to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and cultures of our students and staff. As food is an integral part of culture, this event presented an ideal opportunity to support the Monduli community. The baking skills of our Sixth Form students were most impressive and the culinary outcome was enjoyed by all.'
