Following the recent success of year 11 pupils, Louis Chaudron and Colin Dickson being selected for the England U16 squad, 3 more players enter the fray of England trials this weekend.
Sixth Form students who will all be taking their A levels in the summer, are William Goodwin, George Baxter and Bryn Phillips. They will be representing the Midlands U18s in matches against the South-West on Friday 18th February and the South-East on Sunday 20th February. All 3 have already played for the Midlands in a warm-up game against Worcester Academy and are now aiming to move up a grade to the England squad following these trials. If they manage to do this they will travel to Dublin to face Ireland U18 at Easter. It is possible that if they get through they may face their own Ellesmere College 1st XV Team Captain, Tom King, playing for Ireland after a recent trial playing for the Irish Exiles.
Alex Murphy, Academy Coach who himself represented Wales at U16 and U18 said, I am delighted with the boys success. It is a tremendous experience for them. We now have a number of talented boys throughout the age groups here at Ellesmere. The effect of training and playing together where talent is clustered lifts the performance of everyone.
