Members of the Ellesmere College and Ellesmere Modern Pentathlon Club competed in the West Midlands Regional Biathlon Championships with great success. Swimming 100 or 200 metres depending on their class and then running 1600 metres, students returned with an impressive haul of six trophies.
Rachel Hares, Development Officer for Modern Pentathlon said - "The British Schools' Modern Biathlon is a great example of a competition run to encourage as many children as possible to get involved in an exciting multi-discipline sporting environment. The Modern Biathlon consists of a separate swim and run for all age groups with the distances depending on the competitor's age".
Luke Parker (under 15 Boys) and Abi Parker (under 12 Girls) each finished 2nd in their class; Sunetra Chatterjee (under 14 Girls) finished 3rd, Shannon Davies (under 14 Girls) finished 6th, Vicky Gittins (under 16 Girls) and Sophie Curzon (under 17 Girls) both finished in 4th place.
Shooting Academy Coach, Tom Rylands said "This was the very first team competition we have entered and the results were just fantastic. We have been running taster training sessions over the last few weeks to help the students and I am hopeful that several will qualify for the British Schools Championships at the end of November".
