Ellesmere Launches New Academy for Budding Golfers

Ellesmere College has launched a new Golf Academy following the outstanding success of the Rugby, Tennis, Shooting and Cricket Academies. The new golf programme is a unique partnership between Ellesmere College and the Keith Williams Golf Academy based at Hawkstone Park. An established centre of golf education, Hawkstone Park was recently voted one of the top 20 golf holiday destinations in the world with two 18-hole golf courses and a 6-hole Academy course.

Keith Williams is recognised as one of the leading coaches in Europe with a career spanning over 30 years; he has coached most of the bright young stars on the European Tour. Keith has worked with top golfers such as PGA Champions, Scott Drummond and Andy Marshall, as well as several England squads and, most recently, the Czech National Squad. Keith said; "I am delighted to have my Academy linked with Ellesmere College and I recognise the potential for overseas attraction, but I also feel that it offers local golfers and their parents further choices for combining education and sport".

The Ellesmere Golf Academy will combine internationally recognised educational standards with first class coaching in golf for students of various ages and abilities. Pupils will receive up to 24 weeks coaching, practice and playing options that will include course management and tactical skills, performance management, statistical analysis and physical and mental development. Ian Williams, Director of Sport at Ellesmere, said "The Golf Academy at Ellesmere is open to both girls and boys and is available to all standards of players. The purpose of the Academy programme is to enhance the excellent provision for sport that exists at the School and also allow individual pupils to develop their academic and sporting talents to a level not normally supported in schools".
