Ellesmere Girls Win Shropshire Under 15 Cricket Title

Ellesmere College is celebrating success on the cricket field after returning victorious from the Shropshire under 15 girl’s indoor cricket tournament. The team managed to beat off stiff competition in the County finals which culminated with the game of the tournament against Bridgnorth Endowed School, which went down to the last over and saw Ellesmere secure a 5 run victory.

The SCB Lady Taverners Indoor competition offers many girls their first opportunity to play competitive cricket in a fun, fast paced and inclusive format. Ellesmere College managed to win all of their games against Ludlow, Church Stretton/Craven Arms Cricket Project and Charlton School to go on to represent the County in the regional Midlands Finals, held this year at Trent Bridge (Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club) between the 22nd & 26th April.

Rod Jones, Director of the Cricket Academy said “This is a huge achievement for the team, all of the girls played really well and it was a good team effort. We are hoping to take this level of performance onto the regional Midlands competition in April and hopefully we will have the same success there. The team is certainly capable of winning more competitions”.
