All Year 7 pupils at Ellesmere College participated in a competition to build a contour model from a flat plan and prizes were awarded for the best entries. Pupils have spent this term learning and practising their mapping skills using their atlases and Ordnance Survey maps. Richard Curtis, Head of the Design Technology Department, judged the entries and commented "The entries were of an exceedingly high standard and this year I found making a decision extremely difficult."
The Gold Award winners were Joel Lyttle and Tym Salem-Cooper, with Silver Awards going to Rebecca Neary and Catriona Jones. Bronze Award winners were James Schofield and Zackary Greenaway.
Helen Scarisbrick, Head of Geography commented, 'Building models is one way of bringing this exciting subject to life. All the pupils will now appreciate that a flat map only gives an indication of what is really out there.`
