Ellesmere College Students Deliver Impressive GCSE & A Level Results

Ellesmere College students are celebrating their results that have been confirmed after the welcomed reversal of the government decision regarding centre assessed grades. The GCSE results published today saw 94% pass rate with 46% of grades in the top 9-7 range (A*/A).

There were some particularly impressive performances in the 9/8 (A*/A) band. Pupils hailing from Ellesmere, Nantwich, Chester, Wilkesley, and further afield in Kyiv were top performers being awarded all or the majority of grades at 9/8

Mr Wignall, Headmaster said "It is a pleasure to see how well pupils have achieved and they are commended for their positive approach to our online lessons when the country went into lockdown. We continued teaching our full timetable using Microsoft Teams for remote learning throughout the period and once the year 11 work had been completed most students opted to participate in our introductory 6th form lessons. They are now very well prepared to embark on their Sixth Form programme with us and we look forward to seeing them in September."

The A level results have been equally impressive with 100% pass rate and routes secured to university by most. The College is continuing to support those that are in discussion with universities following the change to their grades. Places that have been secured cover the length and breadth of the UK and a number have opted to study abroad.

A number of students secured impressive A*/A in all subjects and destinations include Music at Cambridge (Homerton College), Medicine at Birmingham, Chemistry at Birmingham, Classics at Durham, Law at Cardiff, Mathematics at Imperial College London and Bath, Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Physiotherapy at Liverpool, Philosophy at Newcastle, and Product Design Engineering at Nottingham University.
