Ellesmere College Rugby Playing Pupils Raise Their Game

Following the recent Shropshire U15 and U14 rugby selection trials, Ellesmere is enjoying strong representation.

Oliver Brereton, Tom Broadhead, Ben Brooks, Michael Brown, George Cave, William Goodwin, James Leahy, Bryn Phillips, Iwan Phillips, Sam Phillips, Jake Taylor, Jamie Whittles and Hugh Wignall have all been selected to be in the U15 Shropshire squad.

Paul Goodwin commented: 'This is a very strong Ellesmere College U15 representation for Shropshire. We are delighted with their success, not only for the County but also since they have enjoyed a particularly successful season during which, in the national U15 Daily Mail Rugby Cup, they reached the last 32 teams out of 550 competing schools, only being beaten by Birkenhead in a well-played and hotly-contested game. This bodes well for them individually and for the School as the players progress through'.

In the U14 Shropshire rugby trials, Angus Cross, Jack Baxter, George Hymes, Sam Kendall and Matt Macintosh have also been selected to represent the County.
