Rugby Player

Next week Ellesmere College is hosting its annual Rugby Summer Camp, but this year has teamed up with Shropshire Rugby to offer one of their best courses ever. The camps will be run by RFU level2 coaches and above with years of valuable experience, to bring to the camp. The camp serves as an ideal pre-season for players of all abilities from beginners who may be in their first season to players taking part in competitive school or club rugby.

During the week, Old Ellesmerian, Sam Lewis will be visiting the camp. Sam left Ellesmere a year ago when he signed a professional contract with Worcster RFC. Sam will be talking to players about his experience of school and club rugby, and how his career is going as a professional rugby player. Also visiting to coach with Sam is Jake Abbott who like Sam has been with the Academy for two seasons and after playing for the 1st XV last season is now a full squad member for the forthcoming season.

Rugby Academy Director, Paul Goodwin says This will provide youngsters with an excellent opportunity to prepare for next season. They will be a strong focus on developing individual skills. It should be plenty of fun as well with the other facilities available at school including swimming pool, tennis courts and golf course.

The course is taking place from Monday 24th to Friday 28th August and is 150 per person, which includes a cooked lunch every day and coaching from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Places are still available, to book a place call Chris Rogers, Sports Centre Manager on 01691 626540 or alternatively you can email chris.rogers@ellesmere.com.
