Ellesmere College Pupils Succeed with the 2008 Senior Mathematics Challenge

A group of Ellesmere College Sixth Form mathematicians recently took part in the annual National Senior Mathematics Challenge. The competition tests knowledge of problem-solving skills and the lack of a calculator means that the participants also have to be competent arithmeticians.

Susan Bogue, coordinator of the Ellesmere College Maths Challenges commented, 'This year we achieved more passes than 2007 with 2 Golds, 3 Silvers and 9 Bronzes. Many congratulations go to all the competitors, but particularly the 14 prize winners.'

Head of Mathematics, Mr John Cowley added, 'I am delighted with the success of the competitors this year which demonstrates that we have many talented mathematicians in our Sixth Form.'
