Ellesmere College Pupils Excel in National Senior Maths Challenge

Following their recent participation in the national Intermediate Mathematics Challenge a group of top performing Ellesmere pupils have now received their results.

Whilst 5 pupils won Silver awards, Year 11 pupil, Jonathan Pescod excelled in the Challenge and gained a Gold award. Silver awards were gained by Joshua Boswell, Joseph Dapling, Matthew Hobbs, Sam Kao and Nicholas West. A further 17 pupils from Years 9, 10 and 11 also gained bronze awards. All the awards were presented by the Headmaster, Brendan Wignall, at the last Assembly of the term.

John Cowley, Head of Mathematics commented, 'It is always good to see our pupils performing well in the Mathematics Challenge. There is no special preparation for it and it is, therefore, a real test of their mathematical ability. I particularly congratulate Jonathan Pescod on achieving a Gold award.'
