Ellesmere College Parents Society Branches Out

Two former Chairs of the Ellesmere College Parents Society dug deep for a tree planting ceremony outside the new Tennis Centre near Lower School.

Claire Williamson and Rebecca Lloyd, who were joint-Chair of the ECPS from 2015-2017, were joined by Director of Operations Mike McCarthy, and Head Groundsman Ian Morris for the official planting on land outside the new Tennis Centre.

As with previous out-going Chairs, Claire and Rebecca wanted to gift a lasting legacy to the College and have donated over £2000.00 worth of trees including oaks, sweet chestnuts, dogwoods, cherry trees and copper beeches. They have been planted all through the College grounds to enhance the schools natural environment and create a haven for wildlife; students also benefit through studying them for various science projects, wildlife and photography camps.

Claire commented, "We are delighted to be able to donate a lasting legacy to the College that we know will be enjoyed for generations to come."

Previous ECPS Chairs have donated a variety of legacy gifts to the College including benches for the Terraces, and through the year, the ECPS host a number of events to raise funds for local and College charities including Age UK, C.R.Y and The Peter Messenger Memorial Fund.

This year's Ladies Luncheon - 'Celebrating Women' - is to be held on Wednesday 27th June with guest speaker Diana Flint, former High Sherriff of Shropshire and the first female student at Ellesmere College.
