Ellesmere College Open Day 21st May 2006

During the afternoon on Sunday 21st May 2006, Ellesmere College gates will be flung open wide for visitors. In an academic year that has seen much academic, sport and performing arts' success, there is much for the College to share with visitors old and new.

The College encourages anyone looking for a new school in the area for their children to join them for the afternoon. Former pupils and existing parents are invited to come and have a look around the School. The College's 1st XI Cricket team will also be playing at home against an Old Ellesmerian team.

Entry into Ellesmere College is possible at all levels. The Lower School caters for children from Years 4 to 8 and occupies the same beautiful eighty acre rural site as the main school. This offers regular opportunities for all classes to use the outstanding facilities available throughout Ellesmere College, including a 9-hole golf course.

In the Middle School, Years 9 to 11, pupils prepare for their GCSEs. September 2006 will see the introduction of the International Baccalaureate which will be on offer in the Sixth Form alongside the traditional A-levels. At each stage, each pupil's experience is enhanced by a range of co-curricular activities to develop individual talents in other areas such as sport, music and drama.

Pupils may board from Year 6, giving pupils aged from 10 years the opportunity to live in this stimulating and caring environment. Weekly as well as full-boarding is offered.

The College's traditional strengths in sport and culture are ingrained at all levels of College life. Exceptional opportunities exist to take part in a wide range of sporting, dramatic, musical and other adventurous activities, including sailing on the Mere.

After-school activities and prep session are available until 5.30pm each day. A dedicated daily bus service transports pupils from Nantwich, Tarporley, Chester, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Market Drayton and Wrexham.

Brendan Wignall, Headmaster at Ellesmere College and his team welcome all interested parties to visit on Sunday 21st 2006 between 2pm and 4pm.
