On Thursday 5th February at 7.00pm Ellesmere College Music Scholars will perform a variety of instrumental and vocal pieces at the 2009 Peter Messenger Memorial Concert. The Concert will follow the opening of the Ellesmere College Community Art Exhibition at which guests will also be able to enjoy wine-tasting.

The pupils and staff at Ellesmere College will be welcoming members of the local community to the School's Arts Centre for the evening of entertainment. Local artists will be exhibiting their work which will include watercolour paintings and photography.

The concert will be featuring the College's music scholars playing much loved classics and show tunes and the Scholars' Ensemble will be performing themes from 'The Simpsons' and 'Mission Impossible'. Individual performances will include Debussy's 'Clair de lune' played by George Fradley on the piano and Beethoven's Sonata in D, played by John Paul on the 'cello.

Roger Paul, Director of Music at Ellesmere College commented, 'Former pupil, Peter Messenger, who sadly died in his early twenties, was a very talented musician. His family set-up the Memorial Fund to financially assist Ellesmere College music scholars with their music studies at Summer Schools. The pupils who are performing are all talented musicians and we are also delighted to be welcoming a group of local artists to join us for the evening.'

There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Peter Messenger Memorial Fund. For further details about the Concert or to reserve seats, call the School on 01691 622321.
